Jubilee Gardens

Linear ornamental and historic park sandwiched between the City Walls and New Park Road just outside the north-east quadrant of the city centre (see map).


Unfenced. Entrances include from:

- the north at Franklin Place junction with New Park Road what3words

- Priory Road at the south what3words .

The Gardens continue south of Priory Road in an open area to the north of the New Park Centre and Chichester Cinema.

  • Cycling on adjoining roads only.

The route of our Chichester City Centre Tree Trail runs through the Gardens, with some trees featured (Tree Trail numbers 18 to 23).

Jubilee Gardens was laid out as what seems to be Chichester's first public Recreation Ground in 1887, when the first cedar tree was planted to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.


The Gardens are in the ownership and management of Chichester District Council. Sadly at the time of writing (4th August 2025) they are not mentioned on its website.
